Welcome to Johnny’s Cafe
Nearly every town or neighborhood has one. It may be a small diner with red and white booths, a hole-in-the-wall “greasy spoon,” a narrow chrome-plated café on an urban sidewalk, or a little burger joint in the corner of a shopping center. The fare is simple comfort food. You can get a bowl of soup, a ham and cheese sandwich, or the best burger in town. Not to mention a good cup of Joe. Straight from the pot, possibly black, maybe with a little sugar and cream, but no whipped cream and caramel sauce.
Then there are the regulars. The mix of blue, white, pink, and no-collar workers. The waitress who knows everyone’s name. The cook behind the counter who pulls the ticket from the clip on the carousel and waves at someone pulling up a stool to order his standard bacon and eggs, eggs over hard, and bacon so crispy it falls apart on the plate.
It’s an ad hoc community of diverse people who can somehow find common ground, argue at times, but then promise to meet up again next week. It’s a place of nourishment for body and soul.
Think about this place like that. The MemberPartner initiative is not just another loyalty program. It’s the core of a growing faith community. It’s a place to meet, share interests, study the Bible, find resources, and step into the world equipped to make a difference.
